What Is Hard Water And What Are Its Effects?

Have you sometimes noticed the white spots on your clothes? Have your new soft cotton clothes turned stiff? Does your skin feel itchy? Does your bathroom has stained bathtubs? If your answer is yes, yes, yes and yes, then there are high chances that the water supplied in your house is hard water. You must have heard about the term Hard water before, but do you know exactly what it is? Having hard water is a health hazard.  According to the International Journal of Preventative Medicine, ‘The regular exposure to the density of minerals in hard water has many ill effects on the health of those who drink it. High levels of calcium and magnesium can affect several organs in the body and cause health problems.’ What Is Hard Water? Hard water is the type of water that contains high concentrations of dissolved minerals, usually chlorides, calcium or magnesium carbonates or sulphates. It is formed when water passes through limestone and calcium and magnesium mix into the water.
